Revelation 14:17: And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

After John saw the Son of Man (Christ) harvest and gather the wheat of exalted saints to himself in the cloud,¹ he saw another angel. This other angel is the sixth of seven angels in Revelation chapter 14,² and the Third Harvest Angel that comes out of the temple in heaven.³

This Third Harvest Angel has a deadly commission⁴ and a sharp sickle to carry out the harvest of all the wicked sons of perdition who are still alive as of the end of the Second Woe. The Third Harvest Angel is like the First Harvest Angel in Revelation 14:14,⁵ except that the Third Harvest Angel is commissioned to destroy all the mortal sons of perdition on the earth rather than reap the righteous saints who are exaltation-worthy.⁶ Since the First Harvest Angel represents Jesus Christ in his saving role as the Redeemer,⁷ the Third Harvest Angel represents Jesus Christ in his role as the destroyer.⁸ He alone will tread the wicked sons of perdition in the winepress of God's wrath.⁹
