[§239] Rev 14:6-11: The Sayings of Three Angels Before the Second Coming

When John saw and heard the 144,000 Servants on mount Zion (Sion)1 he also saw and heard three angels make proclamations in Revelation 14:6-11.2 The three proclamations correspond in time with the end of the Second Woe when Christ will begin to triumph over all evil.3 The proclamations identify three events that must and will be complete before Christ stands on heavenly mount Zion with the 144,000 Servants,4 as follows:

In Revelation 14:6-7, the first angel proclaims that the everlasting gospel has gone forth to all the world so the hour of judgment can proceed.5 Consistent with this prophesy, the everlasting gospel first began to go forth in this dispensation when the angel Moroni visited Joseph Smith in 1823.6 Many people in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Sants identify Moroni as the angel in verses 6 and 7. However, John's prophetic vision is not focused on when the everlasting gospel first began to go forth with Moroni's visit in 1823, but is focused on the end of the Second Woe when the fulness of the gospel has gone forth and has been preached in all the world as a precondition to the final judgments that will befall the earth during the Third Woe and at the Second Coming.7

In Revelation 14:8, a second angel proclaims that Modern Babylon has spiritually fallen.8 This refers to the future gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman. At that gathering, Christ will begin to reclaim his earthly dominion as Satan's earthly dominion is taken away.9 The physical fall of Modern Babylon comes 3½ years later during the Third Woe at the Second Coming, which is the message of the next angel in Revelation 14:9-11.

In verses 9 to 11, a third angel proclaims the destruction of the Second Beast.10 This will occur when Modern Babylon is physically destroyed during the Third Woe. John describes the physical fall of Modern Babylon with great detail in Revelation chapters 15 to 19.11

After the first three angels made their preparatory proclamations, John saw four Harvest Angels in Revelation 14:14-20. The first two Harvest Angels reap the exaltation-worthy saints then living on the earth at the end of the Second Woe. These saints will rise in the morning of the first resurrection to stand with Christ on heavenly mount Zion, where they will be protected and preserved against the very serious plagues and judgments of the Third Woe. After the exaltation-worthy saints have been metaphorically harvested and safely stored away, the last two Harvest Angels will reap any and all remaining mortal sons of perdition on the earth at the end of the Second Woe.12 After this harvest, any telestial-worthy people still on the earth will be destroyed during the Third Woe.13
