[§154] Translation of Lost Tribes Mirrors the People of Enoch
The history and translation of the Lost Ten Tribes1 mirrors the history and translation of Enoch's people in ancient Zion.2 Both groups went from a state of great wickedness3 to their translated condition when they were taken into the bosom of God4 in heaven.5 Their futures will also converge at the Second Coming6 when Christ gathers all things together in one.7 In that day, the inhabitants from the ancient City of Enoch (Zion) and those from the New Jerusalem (Zion) will become as one.8 That is, at the Second Coming, Enoch's city of Zion and all people translated before the time of Christ will descend with Christ from heaven9 at the same time the citizens of New Jerusalem‒those quickened, translated and resurrected since the time of Christ‒shall ascend to meet them.10 They will all be joined together with Christ in the clouds of heaven.11 When saints descend from heaven as saints ascend from earth they will be like a symbolic scroll that is rolled together at the Second Coming.12
Enoch's people in the ancient city of Zion were converted and translated13 as a type or pattern14 for other saints to follow.15 For example, people in the days of Melchizedek also went from a state of wickedness to righteousness until they sought and became translated citizens of Enoch's Zion in heaven.16 Some mortal citizens in the city of New Jerusalem (Zion) will also be translated at the Second Coming.17 The following additional likenesses exist between the translated people of Enoch and the translated Lost Ten Tribes:18
- Enoch established his church among a people that became so righteous that they were translated and preserved from physical death during the worldwide flood.19 Similarly, the Savior established his church among the Lost Ten Tribes when he visited them as a distinct people after his resurrection in about 34 AD.20 Sometime after John's vision on Patmos island in 96 AD,21 he began his little book mission, which was an Enoch-like ministry among the Lost Ten Tribes.22 John's little book mission began among the Lost Ten Tribes before the Great Apostasy could overcome them entirely,23 as it overcame the Nephites on the American continent.24 The translation of righteous people among the Lost Ten Tribes preserved them from a spiritual (second) death during the worldwide Great Apostasy25 just as Enoch's righteous people were preserved from physical death during the flood.
- Enoch ministered among his people to prepare them for translation to a terrestrial state26 and for their return to earth in a resurrected celestial condition at the Second Coming.27 John likewise ministered among the Lost Ten Tribes during his little book mission28 to prepare them to receive the ordinance of translation.29 After the Lost Ten Tribes were translated, John continued to prepare them for their return to earth30 during the future gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman,31 which will take place 3½ years before the Second Coming.32
- The people of Enoch and the Lost Ten Tribes were both translated to preserve the power of the priesthood on earth during separate times of extreme wickedness and apostasy33 so that Satan could never have complete dominion of the earth.34 However, the translated people of Enoch were resurrected with Christ in the meridian of time.35 Therefore, the Lost Ten Tribes were translated and became their successors on earth until Christ's Second Coming.36 The translated Lost Ten Tribes were the unseen priesthood presence on earth throughout the time of the Great Apostasy.37
