[§319] Rev 19:19-20: Victory in the Spiritual Battle of Armageddon
Physical Armageddon ends in stages. The physical battle ends at Jerusalem in Revelation 19:15 when Christ alone treads the winepress of God in that location during the seventh Vial Plague of the Third Woe.1 After the first stage of Physical Armageddon ends at Jerusalem, Christ and the armies of heaven (his bride)2 will then fight the spiritual battle of Armageddon in the same location. In preparation for this spiritual battle, Revelation 16:16 states that all the unembodied and disembodied spirit sons of perdition3 will gather to the place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.4 This preparatory gathering of evil spirits will occur during the sixth Vial Plague of the Third Woe.5 The actual battle between the spirit sons of perdition and the armies of heaven doesn't occur until the seventh and final Vial Plague of the Third Woe, as described in Revelation 19:19-20.6
Disembodied spirit sons of perdition have been loosed on earth with Cain as their spiritual head since at least 70 AD, and probably since the time of Christ's resurrection when the veil of death was parted on the earth.7 These disembodied spirit sons of perdition have an active presence and evil influence on earth today with the unembodied spirit sons of perdition that follow Satan.8 The unembodied spirit sons of perdition are those that were cast down to this earth with Satan after the war in heaven and at the time of this earth's physical creation9
The unembodied and disembodied spirit sons of perdition will be given much greater power in the future during the First Woe, as recorded in Revelation 9:1-3.10 John symbolically identifies both types of evil spirits as frogs in Revelation 16:13.11 Before the millennium begins, the earth must be cleansed of all these frogs‒both disembodied and unembodied evil spirits,12 in the same way the earth must be cleansed of all people13 that are mortal sons of perdition or mortal people that live telestial law.14 This will occur during Spiritual Armageddon in Revelation 19:19-20.
During Spiritual Armageddon, Christ and the kings of the east will defeat the disembodied spirit sons of perdition that follow the Beast (Cain)15 and the False Prophet (Judas Iscariot).16 When these disembodied spirits are defeated, they will be cast alive17 into a lake of fire burning with brimstone18 forever.19 They will never have power or influence on earth again. Unembodied spirits will also be defeated during Spiritual Armageddon, but they do not share the same fate as the disembodied sons of perdition.20 When the unembodied spirits are defeated, they will be temporarily bound in the bottomless pit with the Dragon (Satan)21 for 1000 years as recorded in Revelation 20:1-3.22 After the 1000-year millennium, the Dragon and his unembodied host will be loosed again on earth to establish an eighth world kingdom23 for a little season.24 When the little season ends, all unembodied spirit sons of perdition will be entirely and forever defeated in the battle of Gog and Magog.25 At that time‒that is after the 1000 year millennium, plus the little season‒the unembodied spirit sons of perdition will be cast permanently into the lake of fire burning with brimstone to join the Beast and False Prophet with all their disembodied host.26
