[§312] The Lost Ten Tribes Attend the Marriage Supper as a Bride

The marriage supper of the Lamb1 (Jesus Christ),2 will occur at New Jerusalem in Missouri during Christ's first appearance of his Second Coming.3 Guests at the marriage supper will include both translated people and disembodied spirits who qualify for celestial glory.4 The Lost Ten Tribes of Israel5 will also return from the north (heaven)6 in their translated condition,7 but they will return as a bride of Christ not as a guest at the marriage supper.

Some scholars and leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have said that the Lost Ten Tribes will not return in their gathered condition until after the Second Coming.8 However, the Tenth Article of Faith states‒and others within the church have said‒that the Lost Ten Tribes will return before the Second Coming.9 They will, for example, attend the gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman 3½ years before the Second Coming.10 They will also protect the saints and help in some way to construct the Temple at New Jerusalem in Missouri during the Great Tribulation.11 At the time of the Second Coming, the Lost Ten Tribes will also stand with Christ on mount Zion as his bride and will be numbered among the 144,000 Servants.12 The Lost Ten Tribes will be present for all these events before they descend with Christ and then participate in the marriage supper of the Lamb as his bride.13

Notwithstanding these pre-Second Coming activities, the Lost Ten Tribes will not receive their exalting temple ordinances until after the Second Coming.14 This will not disqualify them from standing with Christ as his bride on mount Zion any more than other mortal people who will be translated, transfigured, or quickened to stand with Christ and descend with him at his Second Coming before they receive their temple ordinances.15 This assumes, of course, that such people did not receive their exalting ordinances only because the opportunity was not available to them before the Second Coming. This would include, for example, accountable people who are too young to be married at the time of the Second Coming. All exaltation-worthy people have the right to wear the wedding garment as a bride of Christ at the Second Coming,16 and this right will not be denied those that make their calling and election sure pending receipt of their exalting ordinances when they are first afforded the opportunity to receive them.17 On the other hand, if people have a reasonable opportunity to receive the sealing ordinance before the Second Coming and unreasonably fail to take advantage of that opportunity, then they will not stand with Christ on mount Zion as a bride.

As a bride of Christ, the Lost Ten Tribes will have the wedding garment when they attend the marriage supper of the Lamb at the earthly city of New Jerusalem (Zion).18 John the Revelator is personally ministering among them now19 to prepare them to stand on mount Zion and for their return to Zion in righteousness20 with their prophets and scriptures.21 After the Second Coming and before they are resurrected,22 the Lost Ten Tribes will receive their temple ordinances in Zion at the hand of Ephraim.23 They will then gather to the lands of their inheritance in the promised land of Canaan and beyond.24
