[§179] Rev 11:15-19: John Introduces the Third Woe [Seventh Trumpet Angel]

Revelation 8:13 warned of a third and final Woe after the end of the Second Woe.1 Revelation 11:15-19 introduces that Third Woe.2 The introduction begins with the joyous refrains of angels celebrating in heaven3 at the Second Coming.4 This heavenly scene provides hope and encouragement to the righteous5 just before John describes the deadly details of the Third Woe on earth,6 beginning in Revelation 15:1.7 The speed and intensity of death and destruction during the Third Woe will eclipse all previous plagues.8

After John's introduction to the Third Woe in Revelation 11:15-19, his narrative in Revelation chapter 12 shifts back in time to the premortal existence and a discussion of the war in heaven.9 This important flashback10 describes Christ's victory over Satan during the premortal war in heaven to explain‒by way of foreshadow‒Christ's victory over Satan on earth during the Third Woe.11 Chapters 12 through 14 chronologically describe the ongoing war between good and evil that began in the premortal existence until the time of Christ's victory over Satan and all mortal sons of perdition at the end of the Second Woe.12 After the three flashback chapters in Revelation chapters 12 through 14, Revelation chapter 15 picks up exactly where John's account left off at the end of Revelation chapter 11. Going forward, Revelation 15:1 through Revelation 20:3 describe the Third Woe, when Christ will be victorious against all telestial-worthy mortals on the earth, and against all unembodied and disembodied spirit sons of perdition.13
