[§176] Rev 11:11-12: The Two Witnesses Resurrect After 3½ Days
Revelation 11:11: And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
The final Abomination of Desolation at the Second Coming will last for 3½ days in Jerusalem after the deaths of the Two Witnesses.1 This final Abomination will end at the Second Coming2 when the Two Witnesses will literally resurrect3 as the Spirit of life from God enter[s] into them.4 Their resurrected bodies will stand upon their feet5 in view of the world and the terrified bystanders6 who were their emboldened enemies just moments before.7
Some Bible scholars refer to this scene as the start of the rapture when resurrected saints ascend to heaven.8 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints considers this to be the time when the morning of the first resurrection will resume.9 This means the last two ordained witnesses of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem will be the first two people resurrected immediately before the Second Coming.10 When the Two Witnesses resurrect and ascend into heaven there will be a great earthquake as recorded in Revelation 11:13.11 Revelation 11:14 confirms that the resurrection of the Two Witnesses and the attendant earthquake both occur at the end Second Woe, just before the Third Woe comes quickly.
Revelation 11:12: And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
The Two Witnesses will be resurrected when they hear12 the beckoning call of Jesus Christ as a great voice from heaven.13 He will call them forth from death14 and tell them: Come up hither.15 Their enemies will watch the Two Witnesses ascend[] up to heaven in a cloud16 as Christ ascended to heaven almost 2000 years ago from the mount of Olives17 in view of his disciples and friends.18 The Two Witnesses will ascend to heaven in view of their enemies and the whole world.19
When the Two Witnesses ascend into heaven they will be joined by a host of other exaltation-worthy saints who will then stand with Christ on heavenly mount Zion as recorded in Revelation 14:1. These are collectively referred to as the 144,000 Servants from Revelation 7. The beckoning voice of Jesus Christ is heard in Revelation 11:12 and the Two Witnesses ascend into heaven, but there is no mention of Christ's Second Coming return to earth in glory. That's because the resurrection of the Two Witnesses coincides with the end of the Second Woe as recorded in Revelation 11:14. Christ's Second Coming, on the other hand, will not occur until the end of the Third Woe, commencing with the events of the Seventh Vile Plague recorded in Revelation 16:17 and beyond. Thus, the resurrection of the Two Witnesses will occur shortly before Christ's Second Coming. These are not simultaneous events.
