The 211 verses in Revelation 8:1 through 19:21 describe historical and future events that both explain and foretell Christ's Second Coming in great detail.¹ The Second Coming will occur at an early time in the seventh seal,² although the precise timing is unknown.³ When the seventh seal opens there will be a brief silence in heaven,⁴ followed by deadly judgments that intensify until the Second Coming.⁵ After the Second Coming, the period of the seventh seal will continue until the end of the thousand-year millennium,⁶ as recorded in Revelation 20:1-15.⁷

At the Second Coming, all things pertaining to this earth and its creation will be revealed.⁸ John symbolically saw this when the seventh seal opened and he could see all things on the front and back of the book (scroll) with seven seals.⁹ The fully opened scroll describes the Second Coming from different vantage points,¹⁰ based on three series of seven events:¹¹

(1) Seven Seals: The seven seals identified in Revelation chapter 5 are the first series of seven events.¹² Each seal represents 1000 years of the earth's temporal history from the fall of Adam to the end of the temporal earth after the millennium.¹³

(2) Seven Trumpet Plagues: The seventh and final seal consists of seven different plagues. Thus, when the seventh seal opens, seven angels with seven trumpets of judgment sound in Revelation chapters 8 to 11.¹⁴ The judgments of the fifth trumpet are called the First Woe.¹⁵ The judgments of the sixth trumpet are called the Second Woe, which corresponds to the physical battle of Armageddon.¹⁶ The final judgments of the seventh trumpet correspond to the Third Woe, which includes the spiritual battle of Armageddon, the end of the physical battle of Armageddon, and the end of the world.¹⁷

(3) Seven Vial Plagues: The seventh trumpet (Third Woe) includes seven final judgments called bowls or vials, which John describes in Revelation 15-20:3.¹⁸

The final details of Christ's Second Coming are revealed with increasing detail in Revelation chapters 15 to 19.¹⁹ The Second Coming will occur at the time of the final destruction from the seventh Vial Plague of the seventh trumpet (Third Woe) of the seventh seal. Since the numbers three (3)²⁰ and seven (7)²¹ symbolize completeness and perfection,²² John's literary style²³ perfectly describes God's perfect judgments leading to the Second Coming.²⁴
